Tell me!
What tips and tricks do you have to make your life easier…
Here are the first three that come to mind I have;
• I make my bed every day.
• I have keyless entry to all doors I need to get in.
• I brain dump every week.
Thing is, all of us neurodivergent humans have amazing ways of hacking the hard things in life. We have had to develop them to be able to function (mostly) and get through life.
But all hacks are not made equal.
Some of them create more work, not less.
Take the brain dump as an example. I used to have lists. A work list, a home list, a life list… lists lists lists. Everywhere. I even had a list of all the lists.
Because my brain released the things I wanted to do and needed at inopportune times. When I wasn’t near my ‘list’ that thing should go on. So I grabbed what was closest to me and started. A. New. List.
Getting the thought out my head was a great hack- if I didn’t it would disappear under the wasps nest of things I had to try and remember… and if there is one thing about my brain… it is good at hiding things in the wasps nest.
Then I started a habit of brain dumping each week.
It was hard work to begin with.
There were times I couldn’t be arsed.
There were other days when my brain just refused to play ball. And I persisted.
Each week.
I committed to sitting down for an hour. To bring all of my lists together in one place. To allow all of the thoughts and tasks and to-do’s out of my head.
And gradually…
As I decanted the wasps nest into one place…
My brain started to enjoy it.
It now even likes the brain dump. Saves things up for it…
